WebDrawer

WebDrawer has been designed to allow read only access to the content stored in TRIM Context 6 via a zero footprint browser client. It can be run as a web server in its own right or as an ISAPI extension to Microsoft IIS. The latter provides for secure communications via https. Its main use is for organizations that want to allow limited public access to content over the Internet.

Anonymous or Authenticated Access

WebDrawer can be configured to allow anonymous access to the content of TRIM Context 6. In this case a single account is used by all people connecting through WebDrawer. If anonymous access is disabled, WebDrawer relies on Windows for authentication. The information that can be seen through WebDrawer can be determined using the standard TRIM Context 6 security and access control features.

Searching for Content

WebDrawer allows the user to combine up to 3 of TRIM Context 6 many search methods in a single search to pinpoint the information that they require. Once executed, the search will produce a summary result from which the user cannot just view the content, but also navigate along the many relational links to other data that TRIM Context 6 provides.

Retrieving Content

Once the user has pinpointed the document that they are interested in, they can download it directly to their computer by clicking a hyperlink. Depending on the Browser that they use they will be prompted whether the document should be opened or saved to the local drive. Because WebDrawer is purely html template and htttp based, it is easy to embed hyperlinks to documents stored in TRIM Context 6 on any web page. This mechanism is used by several existing TRIM sites to make certain documents, such as application forms, available to the public for download.
