Electronic Document Management
Electronic Document Management in TRIM Context is designed to enhance the information authoring processes. It ensures that workgroups can collaborate during the creation of documents under the assurance that there will always be only one authoritative copy and that all supporting information is available in the context of the project. Secure document storage and access controls allow for the correct degree of privacy during the drafting, approval and publishing processes. Tight integration with authoring applications, imaging software and email clients ensures that all forms of electronic documents can be captured and will be available to a single interface.
Rather than managing business information in isolation, the TRIM Context solution manages collections of related documents, preserving business context. This results in more efficient and effective information retrieval, increased productivity, and sustained business continuity.
Version and revision control functionality
TRIM Context distinguishes between Versions and Revisions of documents. A version is a published and finalised iteration of a document, while a revision is an editing stage during the development of a document version.

Each version of a document can have different security and access controls set from the previous or the next.
Full-text search and retrieval
All text content of electronic documents is full text indexed. This allows users to search for documents by individual words as well as whole sentences. An easy to use search assistant guides the user through more complex search concepts such as "a word within 10 words of another word" or "a word in a paragraph with a certain heading". A great strength of TRIM Context is that it allows document content searches to be combined with metadata searches using Boolean And, Or or Not.
Integrated imaging
Paper documents can be easily captured in electronic format through the powerful TRIM Context 6 Kofax Xtension. This integration combines the versatile scanning, OCR and ICR capabilities of Ascent Capture with the full array of EDM features of TRIM Context 6.
Secure single source repository
All electronic documents are stored in a single logical repository, regardless of their format. The repository can be physically distributed over a variety of disk drives. The repository architecture and distribution remains completely hidden from the users. All access to the repository is via proxy, which prevents any direct access to documents by unauthorised users.
Desktop Integration
TRIM Context 6 EDM allows users to work within their authoring applications. Saving and opening documents to and from TRIM Context 6 becomes an integral part of working with the Microsoft Office suite and other desktop applications. There is no need for the users to start up a separate EDM client.
Compound Documents
TRIM Context automatically detects OLE linked documents. It will capture the linked object alongside the main document and store both in its secure repository. Alternatively the linked objects can be captured as individual records, in which case TRIM Context still maintains the link between the two.
