A new survey from an independent management and IT consultancy lifts the li d on EDRM Cornwell Management Consultants has announced that it will be publishing a detailed survey of EDRM within the UK public sector later this month. Telephone interviews with over 50 end-user organisations, representing implementations from the major EDRM vendors, were carried out to identify the key factors that determined whether a project was deemed a success or a failure. Leading property company saves up to 10 minutes per document search with TR IM Context Pearl & Coutts, specialists in London residential and commercial property, has installed the TRIM Context EDRM solution from TOWER Software to support its 70 users. The solution forms the backbone of a large project to replace the company's many paper-based systems with an electronic records management system. It will manage all unstructured data such as deeds, leases, plans, photography and correspondence as well as email within a new corporate file plan. Read more
"The Government is too eager to take risks when it comes to ICT-enabled projec ts" The Work Foundation (formerly The Industrial Society), the not-for-profit think tank for the public sector, has released its report: "Public Services & ICT: Where next for transformational government?". The report identifies several areas that require more attention if the government's desire to progress from eGovernment to transformational government is to be achieved. High on the list is the ability to manage risk though clear goal-setting, effective project management and an optimum balance between innovative and "safe" technologies. Read more
North Warwickshire Borough Council is the first to deploy EDRM integration with Northgate's Local Land and Property Gazetteer North Warwickshire Borough Council is the first local authority to roll out an integration between TOWER Software's TRIM Context EDRM solution and Northgate’s Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG). According to Trudi Barnsley, the Council IT project officer at North Warwickshire Borough Council, the new integrated system saves around 2½ minutes per document entry and produces "consistent, accurate results - fast."
