The Government of British Columbia deploys TRIM Context as their Enterprise Content Management system
Fulfilling knowledge management initiative for 11,000 government employees
Reston, Virginia – May 22, 2007 - TOWER Software, the leading Enterprise Content Management (ECM) provider to government and regulated industry world-wide, is pleased to announce that the Government of British Columbia is deploying TRIM Context as their ECM system across the government. To date the province has acquired 11,000 licences, with the goal of implementing TRIM Context in all government departments to improve information management and to better serve citizens.
In 2003, the Ministry of Forests and Range and the Ministry of Transportation were the first two departments of the Government of British Columbia to implement TRIM Context. These implementations have now expanded to ministry-wide information platforms for enterprise content management.
As part of a major government reorganisation, the Ministry of Forests and Range undertook an internal review process to check the health of their records management program to ensure they were compliant with government regulation and were managing their records efficiently. A key recommendation of the review was to train the 3,000 ministry staff in records management business practices using a web-based training tool. This training was followed by the phased implementation of TOWER Software’s TRIM Context. Initially, the Ministry converted all physical records from a legacy system and inventoried all backlog records. Following that, they implemented the TRIM Context email management function. The Ministry is now beginning to manage electronic documents using TRIM Context. Electronic Document and Records Management is a key component of the Ministry's knowledge management initiative, and will soon become the full foundation for all operational business practices. The implementation of TRIM Context will improve information management and sharing, which supports the provincial government’s commitment to citizen-centred service delivery.
“TOWER Software is proud to support the Government of British Columbia’s knowledge management initiative,” says Grace Hiltz, Director of Canada for TOWER Software. “Managing your government information is a crucial component in today’s public sector environment to reduce risk while increasing information security, integrity and accountability. TRIM Context enables organisational improvement by making information accessible and manageable while meeting government regulations,” continues Ms. Hiltz.
